The market gained momentum because of the policy of prominent U.S. investor Warren Buffett (hereafter referred to as "Buffett") to buy more Japanese stocks, but the reasons for buying Japanese stocks had been strengthening for some time. Buffett's actions have increased its visibility.

First is the fact that Japan is becoming increasingly important in the new U.S.-China conflict. Buffett invested in Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), a semiconductor foundry (contract manufacturing), but quickly sold most of his stake. While appreciating the corporate value of TSMC, he stated that the geopolitical risk in Taiwan was too great and that Japan was a safer bet. Some in the stock market are predicting that, "In the event of a Taiwan emergency, the U.S. military will bomb TSMC rather than let it fall into Chinese hands.

From this perspective, Japan is the only stock market in East Asia in which you can invest. This is because China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan are all dangerous. In fact, Hong Kong stocks have fallen sharply. South Korea and Singapore are less risky, but they are far short of the size and depth of the Japanese market.
